Indonesia has many priorities to deal with. It is contending with the aftermath of earthquakes, a volcanic eruption and a tsunami – all in the last seven weeks. More than 1500 children die every day from treatable illnesses such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, dengue fever and malaria. Besides, many Indonesians either do not believe the hype – they point to the SARS threat in 2003 that never materialized – or say that if outsiders are so worried they should pay for the necessary measures.

They are really having a hard time.
Some random thoughts :
Are they doing enough?
Are we doing enough?
Indonesia not very far, you know?
Keep our fingers crossed.

Who can blame these poor people who are so overwhelmed with tragedy and are not educated about bird flu? There are seventeen thousand islands in Indonesia. These folks sleep with their poultry. It's a huge project here. Money, education and compassion is needed in huge amounts.
Hi Charmagick,
Thanks!
I share your view.
When I said, "Are they doing enough?", it's more like looking at the surface. The facts remain much more could to be done.
When I added, "are we doing enough?", I'm like more on a reflective mood, questioning how we may assist better.
I do hope the neighbouring folks, wealthier nations, more capable people, or whoever has the heart to, can assist them to pull through.
Assisting them is helping ourselves.
"Money, education and compassion is needed in huge amounts." That's very concise. :)
God bless you Nanzi. Yes, we can help more. Ourselves, and them if we have the resources to send it to them.
Thank you for caring, keep going! Love to you too.
